2013 Club Championships

Just to point out to all swimmers.   Overall Champion is a separate achievement and not awarded solely from club championship events.  If you want to win overall champ you need to compete in different strokes and distances in meets during year to get those PBs and points in all events.  I will post a list of events by age on a separate file.

Overall Champion  is calculated as follows:

PBs achieved from meets, club championships, time trials etc during the year from November 2012 to November 2013 are recorded on our Hytek database and overall winner is calculated using GB points.   Points are allocated by event/distance for the PB time achieved and for the swimmer's age. It is important therefore that swimmers enter a broad number of events in meets throughout the year to maximise their points.  Newcomers are not included in overall winners as they have not been in the club a full year.

If you have any questions let me know. Marion

New Meet Mobile App

Dear Parents and Swimmers,

Further to successful trial of HyTek Meet Mobile app at the West District Grand Prix at East Kilbride, we plan to continue publishing results live during West District Championships that will be available on phones and tablets.

Overview - Meet Mobile 2.5 is a free Apple and Andriod app which can be installed on your iphone ipad itouch and Andriod devices and phones.  This application displays meet results and team scores in real time as meet manager receives the data from the timer.  Meet Mobile can display by event or swimmer including splits and places.  Parents and coaches will be able to follow the meet from anywhere in the world !

Go to your internet on your phone, ipad, laptop and type  'Meet Mobile app'

seach for the one that fits your device 'Meet Mobile app for ..... ipad, iphone blackberry, android, pc  then go to appropriate link for your device to upload.

eg for iphones go to itunes then hit upload.  The meet mobile icon should appear on your screen .

The only current meet loaded is the West district so Search for 'West Dist 2013' and up came '2013 West District Grand Prix' .  You can then search by swimmer, event, team etc . Eventually all big meets will be using this.

A flyer has been added unded Gala then Documents- where alternatively you can scan to go direct to the app.

If anyone has any problems let me know

HBASC AGM

The Annual General Meeting of Hamilton Baths Amateur Swimming Club on Monday 21 January at 7pm in the Hamilton Palace Grounds main building.

We would like to take this opportunity to inform parents that our President and many of our current committee members intend stepping down from the committee after many years of valuable service.  We have built the club up over the years with a strong committee and want this continue after we leave.  We therefore are encouraging more younger parents to take up an active role in the club, either a specific position within the committee or become a general committee member. This is your chance to show an interest in how the club is run like we did all these years ago.

As it stands we have 3-4 vacant positions within the committee and now urgently need new members to step up as we cannot run the club without these positions being filled. We are looking forward to seeing many new faces at the AGM,  especially from the C and D squads.

Our committee members would be happy to discuss if you have any questions before the AGM.

Kind Regards

Marion

Club Technical Officials

Your Club Needs You to think about becoming a Judge. Timekeeping is the first step on the ladder to becoming a Judge 1 and as a club we have a desperate shortage of Judges that we are required to supply to Galas just as we do timekeepers.   Judge 1 is basically an inspector of turns and the only experience you need to begin this course is being a qualified timekeeper (i.e. your timekeeper sheet completed and signed off).

The time to think about doing your judges course is when your swimmer is young and getting entries to graded meets as it is at this level of gala that HBASC must supply judges and timekeepers. We can be heavily fined at galas if we do not produce the correct amount of techinical officials.  The course is usually carried out over three, two hour workshops interspersed with mentoring poolside at galas. Your Club is asking you to think seriously about this as it needs Judges now.  Please speak to Lorraine King our STO convenor or any committee member if you are interested. Many thanks
